How To Enter NoMansLand
To begin with, go to Google Earth and the Keyhole Community. I recommend going to Support, Collected Keyhole Wisdom, and finally the Placemarks and Overlays training in Keyhole. Once you have downloaded Google Earth, joined Keyhole, and familiarized yourself, you are ready to enter NML.
You will find NML in the Keyhole's "Fun and Games" forum, in a thread titled Welcome to NoMansLand. Click on "Search," select "Fun and Games," and type in "nomansland" to search for the the thread.
NML is best understood in three stages: Brewing, Drinking, and Sharing. If you found your way here by word of mouth then you probably want to begin by brewing. If you came here because you found a bottle, then you are ready to drink.
BREWING
A bottle is placed at a space that someone would like to include in the NoMansLand map. (If you want to hand deliver to an actual person, that is fine too, as long as the hand off is at the actual place in question.) A bottle placemark is left at the same place on Google Earth, and posted as a reply to the "Welcome to NoMansLand" thread.
- The bottle should have a Drink Me label. You are welcome to use the label on this blog, but you do not have to.
- The bottle should contain the Notice of Referendum for NML Zoning specifying the free service to be included on the NML map.
- The bottle may include any other relevant information as the leaver chooses.

DRINKING
The bottle is found.
If the finder agrees that the space should be included in NoMansLand, then they leave a placemark designating the appropriate free service at that place on Google Earth. The placemark is posted in a reply to the "Welcome to NoMansLand" thread. (At this point, the bottle-placemark should be removed by the person who posted it, as it is no longer needed.)
If the finder disagrees with the motion (or is not interested in partaking of this experiment), then hopefully they will return the bottle and contents to where they found it so someone else has the opportunity to second the motion.
SHARING
The discussion is now open in Keyhole for people to accept or reject the inclusion of the place in NoMansLand. If a majority of folks seem to be against its inclusion at any point, then it is the responsibility of the person who posted the placemark to remove it.
This is also a forum for people to share information, history, photos, events and anything else relevant to the particular space.
